Monumental black krater adorned with an abundance of classical symbols. One side depicts a hare pursued by the winged androgynous deity Hermaphroditus. The other side shows the Greek hero Achilles, who is carrying the body of the slain Amazon queen Penthesilea from the Trojan battlefield.. The scene above pictures a group of women by a fountain. The frieze on the neck is enlivened with a wedding that is being interrupted by drunken centaurs, and a bacchanal of satyrs and maenads.
